O.M.F.G. I have no words for the crazy that is these shoes. And yet I think they are stunning. I mean, I would never wear them, but that isn't really the point. I would consider these works of art. This is one of the best examples of true modern design- something I have NEVER seen before. There is no real link to the past in these shoes. Oh sure, there have been platforms, and fetish shoes, and footbinding, etc- but they just dont look like these shoes. Amazing.
So what do you think? Inspirational or just plain ugly?

So ugly!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEwww! I could see creativity but would wonder what was he on when he created these things? LOL!
ReplyDeleteHideous is the only word to describe these :)
ReplyDeleteI would totally wear the last pair. They are so HR Giger-ish, but then again, I like the completely strange to mix it up. =)

The top pairs remind me of those 7 inche ballet fetish shoes that are so popular.
ReplyDeleteTo me these designs are more architectural than fashion
if that makes any sense at all, I find them, ugly beautiful.
Thanks for posting :-)
oh my god they're crazy! i cant believe how utterly amazing they are!
ReplyDeletei want the ones with jewels!!!
aha xxx
I <3 McQueen. His expression brilliant!
ReplyDeleteOh my.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was the foot-binding. I keep trying to figure out how the foot inside is shaped.
I also would kill myself trying to walk in them!
Is there any video showing the models WALKING in these?
They are ugly and in no way make the foot look good! I'll be interested to see if any celebrities start wearing these (like Lady Gaga or Rihanna).
ReplyDeleteScary!
ReplyDeleteoh my god. i wonder if we will start to see a modified version of those for the everyday consumer start to trickle down into mainstream stores.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the fifth one down but OMG, I cannot imagine walking anywhere in those. I would fall right in the gutter.
ReplyDeleteThe others are ....horrendous.
Yikes! some of those look like prehistoric creatures of some sort.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting creations, but I find them awfully ugly as shoes. Except for the chinoiserie/HR Giger ones at the end. Those are inspired! The rest just look like someone got her foot stuck in a flower vase.
ReplyDeleteLOVE! Totally blew my mind, and that's what I live for.. to be BLOWN!
ReplyDeleteI would actually totally wear the ones with the mechanical looking heel. DROOLING! WANT! WANT!
I wish I could be famous so I could wear McQueen.
No, no, no way......I don't like them !!! they look like everything less than shoes! I mean, I guess it is very difficult to walk on that!
ReplyDeleteAnd no, mmm, no.....they are "interesting" ...but....no...what was the designer smoking that day!? =)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Mr. McQueen didn't completely come up with these. They are indeed fetish shoes and have been around for a while. They are meant to look like hooves, and there are actually videos of women walking in them on YouTube. But Mr.McQ is still a genius.
ReplyDeleteSeriously look like my dog's dew claws... I will never understand some forms of high fashion. Thanks for sharing these!!
ReplyDeleteThe top pairs look like cloven hooves. like a pig foot or something.. what a strange design?
ReplyDeleteI cant handle them AH!!!
H R Giger Alian one ( the last picture ) is rock!.. i can see it will show up on some fashionista, somewhere in the next fashion week to come
ReplyDeleteHonestly, being a designer myself, this kind of what is being called "high fashion" is an insult to the rest of us who are trying to make people feel beautiful, comfortable and perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeing a good designer is based on making innovating items that catch people's attention but never losing its reason or purpose, which is to dress people up so they can feel better about themselves. I don't think that a girl will feel good about herself when she can't walk or when she falls down in the middle of the street...
You can design crazy things, but once those things can't be worn, then they start becoming more a sculpture than fashion. If McQueen wants to sculpt, good for him, but please don't call it fashion, because it's a joke
THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING....!!! HIS MIND WAS BEAUTIFUL AND HE WILL BE MISSED...!!!
ReplyDeletenice blog!
ReplyDeleteSorry Carla but I'm not agree with you, if I'm a fashion designer too, and the people who really know about fashion, know that Alexander McQueen was an excellent fashion designer, he didn't want to sculpt, he just wanted to show to the world that fashion could be diferent and original!
ReplyDeleteOMG where can I get a pair of the last ones?!?!
ReplyDeleteHR Giger ish all the way <333 let me know if any of you know I can't find it. vampvirgo@gmail.com
I love these shoes. They are all so intricate and beautiful. Fashion is art. Catwalk clothes arnt meant to be wearable, they are meant to make a statement. They are meant to cause a stir.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! McQueen was, and still is, a genius.
