Green And Blue Dinner Party

A few weeks ago I hosted a dinner for some friends. I had seen this pin and thought it was such a good idea- using scrap paper for table decoration! So off I went to Michaels and I ended up creating the tablescape seen below:

I knew I wanted to to find something in shades of green or turquoise, because I think it looks good with the crazy orange wallpaper seen in the background.

I found the patterned paper (on sale!) first, and then I got the idea to make a sort of napkin ring using one of those fancy Martha Stewart punches. I then threaded a ribbon through the paper and tied it in the back.

The white and gold vases are from Jonathan Adler and I got them as a gift a few years ago. But I just noticed you can now get them for 40% off here. They are still pricey, but I use them almost every week. The plates are from Ikea and you can see them from a different meal I did here. The bright green table runner was used for this meal, so as you can see I often reuse items from other meals. Obviously this keeps the cost of decorating down.

And that, kittens, is a simple and inexpensive way to easily decorate your table using scrapbook paper. Let me know if any of you end up using this idea for your dinner parties. I would love to see pictures of how you decorate.

  2. Such pretty decorations, I had a 'mexican themed' dinner party once, and spent all week cutting out paper cacti and making a 'wooden' sign for my cantina. I will put post pics soon of me sporting my fake moustache! X

  3. The whole table looks gorgeous - your lucky guests! And the napkin ring is a brilliant idea - having the ribbon tied though gives it such a lovely detail of added texture and colour.
